Philip Derby

 

Philip DerbyPhilip Derby decided to make his home in Providence after completing the Master's of Architecture program at the State University of New York at Buffalo, Buffalo, NY. Prior to embarking on a career in architecture, Phil was employed for several years as an art teacher in Montgomery County, Maryland, just north of Washington D.C.

While at KITE, Phil has been instrumental on developing a variety of projects, including the mixed use project at 1577 Westminster Street, the new Carter Center for Music Education for the RI Philharmonic, and the Stand Up for Animals shelter and adoption facility in Westerly, RI.

In addition to an interest in the built environment, Phil is also an accomplished painter, whose work draws from the work of the Bay Area Figure Painters. He has exhibited his work in solo and group shows from time to time.
